FAQ

What is VeryImportantNotes?

What is VeryImportantNotes?

VeryImportantNotes helps you say the things you’ve been meaning to say. Tell us what’s on your mind and our AI helps you organise your thoughts and find the words in your own voice. You can keep them as a note or letter, save them in a notebook, or turn them into a personal card to send to someone.

Who is VeryImportantNotes for?

Anyone who has has something to write or say…   Have you ever thought, “I know what I want to say, I just don’t know how to say it.” You don’t need to be a writer. You just need something you want to say.

What can VeryImportantNotes help me with?

The things that matter. Thanking someone properly. Saying sorry. Reconnecting. Telling someone you miss them. Offering support. Sharing a memory. Telling someone what they have meant to you. Or simply saying something before another year goes by.

Is VeryImportantNotes a card company?

Not really. We believe the words come first. A card is one lovely way to send them, but VeryImportantNotes begins with helping you work out what you want to say.

Do I have to know exactly what I want to say?

No. That’s why we’re here. Start with a thought, a memory, a feeling or even “I don’t know how to say this”. We’ll help you from there.

FAQ

Finding the words

How does the AI help me?

You give us your thoughts in your own words. They can be messy, unfinished or completely out of order. Our carefully trained AI helps organise them into something clear and natural while keeping the meaning yours - while keeping kindness, clarity and common sense.

Will it still sound like me?

That’s the point. We’re not trying to make you sound like somebody else. We help you find a clearer version of what you already want to say.

Can I just write everything myself?

Absolutely. Write it yourself and use VeryImportantNotes simply to polish it, or ask us for more help if you need it.

Can I speak instead of type?

Yes. Sometimes saying something out loud is much easier than writing it. You can dictate your thoughts and use them to create your note.

What if I don’t like the first version?

Change it. Make it shorter, warmer, gentler, more direct or simply more you. Nothing is finished until you’re happy with it.

Can VeryImportantNotes help with difficult things?

Yes. Some of the hardest things to say are the most important. We can help you approach sensitive conversations thoughtfully and find words that feel honest and kind.

FAQ

The questions people really ask

What do I say to someone I haven’t spoken to in years?

You don’t need to explain every year that has passed. Acknowledge that it’s been a while, say that you’ve thought about them and tell them why you wanted to get in touch. Sometimes a simple “I know it’s been far too long...” is enough to open the door.

How do I reconnect with an old friend after losing touch?

Start simply and honestly. You might mention a memory, something that reminded you of them or just admit that you wish you hadn’t let so much time pass. You don’t need a perfect explanation to say hello again.

What do I write to someone I miss?

Tell them. Say what you miss about them, share a memory or explain what made you think of them today. It doesn’t have to be dramatic to mean a great deal.

How do I tell someone how much they mean to me?

Think about the small things. Something they did for you, a moment you’ve never forgotten or simply how your life is different because they are in it. Those details often say more than grand declarations.

How do I tell someone I appreciate them?

Tell them what you appreciate and, if you can, why. Perhaps they always show up, make you laugh, listen without judging or did something kind that they probably thought you’d forgotten.

What do I say when I don’t know what to say?

Start there. “I don’t really know what to say, but I didn’t want to say nothing” can sometimes be exactly the right beginning.

Is it ever too late to say something?

Sometimes circumstances change, but many important words don’t have an expiry date. Thank you. I’m sorry. I miss you. You mattered to me. I should have told you this sooner. If it still matters to you, it may still be worth saying.

FAQ

Saying sorry and making things right

Can VeryImportantNotes help me apologise?

Yes. A sincere apology doesn’t need impressive language. It needs honesty, acknowledgement and an understanding of how the other person may have felt. We can help you find the words without turning an apology into an excuse.

How do I apologise after a long time?

Acknowledge the time that has passed. Say that you should have said this sooner, take responsibility for what happened and say what you wish you had done differently.

What if I don’t know whether they’ll forgive me?

You can apologise without asking for forgiveness. Sometimes an apology is simply about giving somebody words they deserved to hear.

How do I reach out after an argument or falling out?

You don’t have to resolve everything in the first message. Sometimes the first step is simply saying that you’ve been thinking about them and would like to find a way forward.

FAQ

When someone needs you

What do I say to someone going through a difficult time?

You don’t have to fix it. Let them know you’re thinking of them, that you care and that they’re not forgotten. Simple, genuine words are often enough.

What do I write to someone who is grieving?

Acknowledge their loss. If you knew the person who died, you might share a memory or something you loved about them. You don’t need to make grief better. You just need to be there.

What can I say instead of “let me know if you need anything”?

Try offering something specific. “Can I bring you dinner?”, “Shall I call you this weekend?” or even “You don’t need to reply, I just wanted you to know I’m thinking of you.”

What do I say when there really are no right words?

Say that. Sometimes “There are no words for this, but I wanted you to know I’m here” is more meaningful than trying to find something profound.

FAQ

What can I do with my words?

Can I turn my note into a real card?

Yes. Once your words feel right, you can turn them into a personal card and have it posted directly to the person you wrote it for.

Do I have to send what I write?

No. Some words are written to be sent. Others are written because you needed to write them. You decide.

Can I keep my words for later?

Yes. You can save notes, thoughts, memories and letters and come back to them when you’re ready.

What are VeryImportantNotes notebooks?

They’re a place for the things you don’t want to lose: memories, stories, thoughts, letters and things you want the people you love to know, now or one day in the future.
